  • What research areas are covered in the SPP?

    The research must focus on enabling applied THz technologies.
    Few examples are provided here.

  • Are only the research areas and themes described on the website covered in the SPP?

    These are only few examples provided to indicate the visions and goals of the SPP.
    There could be other research areas, themes or disciplines which could address enabling applied THz technologies.
    The selected projects will be sorted out in different themes, areas or fields whichever suitable.

  • Do I have to collaborate to apply for a research project within the framework of the SPP INTEREST?

    It is highly recommended to apply within a consortium of at least two, preferably cross-disciplinary, PIs addressing the bottleneck of the existing THz devices, components or systems.
    The research should pursue on enabling THz technologies with high potential and be within the vision and goals of the SPP, as described here.

  • Do I have to find a collaboration with the researchers in UK?

    No, in the phase one of INTEREST, collaboration is limited to holding joint THz events.
    The joint events are organised with a view to establish research activities in the next phase.

  • What are the timelines for the SPP?

    The important deadlines and tentative schedule for events in first year are described here.

  • What is covered in the funding?

    One PI project covers funding to support one E13 staff member and accompanying research related costs, as set by DFG.
